About

One person, start to finish

Mugi is a permanent makeup artist in Annandale, Virginia, and the whole of Ink Mugi. She takes the first message, does the consultation, draws the shape, does the tattooing, and answers the phone at day three when you think it looks too dark. There is nobody to be handed over to, and nobody else's work to inherit halfway through.

Mugi, the permanent makeup artist behind Ink Mugi

Soft, customized brows and delicate fine line tattoos that enhance your features without ever feeling overdone.” That is how she describes her own work, in her own words, on her booking profile.

How she works

The first hour is not tattooing

The shape is worked out on your face first — where your own hair grows, how the two sides differ — and then drawn in pencil. You see the drawing and can ask for it to be changed before anything is tattooed. The appointment is booked as one long slot so that this part is not rushed.

She goes lighter than you expect

“Without ever feeling overdone” is her own standard, and the restraint is the technique rather than the marketing. Pigment is straightforward to add later and difficult to take back afterwards. If the first session looks softer than you imagined, that is deliberate.

She will tell you when the answer is no

If the shape you brought will not suit your face, if existing permanent makeup needs lightening somewhere else first, if your skin or a medication means waiting, or if what you are describing is not something a tattoo can do, you get told plainly, early, with a reason and an alternative. That conversation costs her the booking, which is the point of it.

Fresh brows are darker and sharper than they stay, so the work is judged once it has settled rather than on the day it is done. How the follow-up works is set with Mugi at your appointment. Touch-up prices are published separately and depend on how long it has been.

The longer version of all of this, including exactly what happens in the room and what happens when the answer is no, is on the consultation page.

What you can check yourself

Neither of these is Ink Mugi's word for it. One is a state record and the other is written by clients somewhere Mugi cannot edit it.

The license

Mugi holds a Tattooer License from the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. Virginia publishes a free lookup, so you can put the number in and read the record rather than taking this page's word for it.

What clients wrote

Reviews are on Google, under the names the people who wrote them chose, where Mugi cannot edit or remove them.

I had been on the fence for almost 2 years about getting my brows done because I’m super particular and honestly really nervous about tattooing my eyebrows. I found her on Google and I’m SO happy I did. She absolutely killed it!

Her work

Photographs of her finished brows are on Mugi's work, photographed at the appointment, cropped to the brow so that nobody who sat in the chair is identifiable. They are taken on the day rather than after healing, and the page is clear about the difference. There is more of it on her Instagram.

What is not there yet is a healed record — the same brows once they have settled, with the interval stated in the frame and the client's written permission on file. That is being built from the next appointment onwards, and it is the reason the collection is small.

Prices are on the services and prices page, and she publishes notes written between appointments.

If you are still deciding

You do not have to know what you want before you get in touch. Send a photo of your brows and what is bothering you, and you will get an honest read back - including if the answer is that you should wait, or choose something else.
