Initial Pigment State

How grey microblading gets corrected

Grey microblading correction is a structured process. On brows that have been microbladed before, earlier intervention usually makes the neutralization step more predictable because the old pigment has not had as much time to deepen into a stubborn blue-grey cast. The approach depends on the severity of the color shift, the depth of existing pigment, and your skin characteristics. Here's the standard process at Ink Mugi.

Assessment & Color Analysis

Powder Brow Overlay

Once neutralization has healed (typically 4–6 weeks), she applies a full ombré powder brow overlay in your target brow color. The stippled powder technique creates a consistent, sealed pigment layer over the corrected base — providing even color, natural gradient, and it holds better than the microblading underneath it did. Perfecting Touch-Up

At 6–8 weeks post-overlay, she looks at the healed result and makes any refinements needed, usually minor saturation adjustments or shape perfecting. This session is included in the correction price. Why it happens is not as settled as the internet suggests. The explanation artists give most often is the pigment's base: a brown built on a cool or carbon-heavy base has little warmth in it to lose, so as it softens what is left reads grey. Depth is the other thing usually blamed: pigment placed deeper reads cooler because the light reaching it passes through more skin. And sun lifts colour out of any tattoo, wherever you live. The result is that what started as a warm brown appears grey, blue, or ashy, which is why the change often seems sudden, as though the brows started looking "cold" in photos before they looked obviously grey in the mirror.
